Blue Bear, Gregory, Red Fred and Trevor

Firstly Blue Bear

I don't make many blue bears so this is one of the few!!! I also haven't named this bear as I am thinking it is probably a girl because of the flowery paws and ribbon on the head but maybe a boy because of the colour. I will let you decide!

Anyway this bear is made from a pastel blue sparse mohair in a traditional style and stands at just under 4 1/2" tall (11cm) It has black glass eyes and a sparse black embroidered nose. A sweet face with a little shading to it. The paws are a printed cotton over pale blue ultra suede, again with some shading to them. Filled with kapok with steel shot in it's tummy and fully cotterpin jointed  this bear

 Gregory

Gregory is just about 3 1/2" tall and made from a blonde sparse mohair. He has black ultra suede paws which I have waxed to make them look like leather. Gregory has black glass eyes and a sparsely embroidered nose. I have plucked, hand painted and added black stitching to him to give him a well loved look . He is filled with kapok and has steel shot in his tummy . Gregory  is fully cotterpin jointed and has a rusty old bell around his neck.

I came across this box together with a few more this weekend and tried bartering for them as they were so nice but didn't get very far!!!! I couldn't resist them however so Gregory comes with a really old phonograph box from the Clarion record Company. It even has the record inside. "A Watch Night Service in the old Village Church" ! Of course if you don't have a phonograph machine you won't be able to play it!!

Trevor

Trevor is made from a short spikey pale gold mohair that I have  plucked, stained, hand painted and waxed  together with adding black and green stitching to make him look 'well loved'. He is approximately 4" tall and is fully cotterpin jointed with black glass eyes and an embroidered waxed nose.Another new design fro me with stick arms and legs which I am enjoying making. Trevor wears a rusty old bell on a piece of stained rag.

Here is Red Fred

Red Fred is a completely new design by me. I was thinking of the old bears that the soldiers used to take to war with them and based this first prototype on a version of them. Red Fred stands approximately 4 1/2"  ( 3 1/2" sitting) and is made from red short stubbly mohair on a beigy coloured background. He has black glass eyes and a black embroidered nose, stick like limbs and filled with kapok which is what old bears used to be filled with. I have added some steel shot in his tum to give him a nice weighty feel. I have aged this little fella with had painting, balck stitching and waxing. He comes with a rusty old bell on a piece of tatty red silk and is fully cotterpin jointed.
