Lilian the soldier bear and Tabitha the wire haired fox terrier and Jeff and Willoughby

During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. Today they are much sort after and fetch many hundreds of pounds
The soldier bears' page is a little full so Lilian has started a new page. She is 3 1/2" tall and made from hand dyed pink mohair that I have chopped, plucked and shaded to give her some 'age' She is fully cotterpin jointed and filled with steel shot and kapok . She has blue glass eyes and a very sparsely embroidered nose. I have added stitching , patchingand waxing to her and she wears a rusty bell around her neck
She is for sale at £65
