During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. I have been making my own replicas for a few years now and just love creating them.
Private F C Plumb was a Soldier in WW1 . He won a military medal in 1917. I don't know his first name so I shall hope it was Frank and name this bear in honour of him.
Frank is made from a gorgeous plumb coloured spikey mohair that I have aged to give him a "well loved" look. He has blue glass eyes and a sparsely stitched and waxed nose.
He is fully cotter pin jointed and filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears and has added steel shot in his body for a nice weight. He wears a tatty red, white and blue sash tied together with a rusty old pin with a peace and a hope charm attached. He is approximately 31/2" tall
