James Blanch  is one of my versions of  the bears given to the soldiers during WW1 by their loved ones on leaving.
Private James Blanch was a soldier during WW1. This bear is named after him. I have further details of him which can be found on
James is approximately 31/2 inches tall and made from long brown mohair that I have plucked, shaded and waxed for a "Well Loved" look. He has blue glass eyes and a stitched nose and is fully cotter pin jointed. He is firmly stuffed with Kapok used in the early days of bear making and has steel shavings in his body for added weight . He wears a red, white and blue sash with a "Hope" charm attached to a rusty old safety pin.
