A Busy Time for Nanna… and New Miniature Mohair Bears at Little Scruffs 🧸
Welcome to the Little Scruffs workshop, where I create handmade miniature mohair bears and tiny character animals.
Hello from me, Jean, and all the Little Scruffs!
It has been quite a while since I last wrote a blog post here — in fact two years! I didn’t mean to leave it quite that long, but somehow time seems to run away with me between sewing tiny bears and animals and family life. So I thought it was about time I popped back in with a little update.
The last few weeks have also been very busy for our family, as both of my daughters had babies just 15 days apart. It has been a wonderful (and slightly hectic!) time becoming Nanna again. I’m very happy to say that my newest grandson is now home and doing really well, which is a huge relief for us all.
Even with all the excitement, I have still managed to spend a little time back at my sewing table.
I recently finished Mabel, a little English Bull Terrier, and another bear who still isn’t quite right yet. Sometimes they just need a little extra attention before they feel finished, so that one is being set aside for a small “makeover” later on.
Since then I’ve also completed a new little bear called Petal.
Petal is a cheeky little character made from cream mohair for her head and body, with a vintage cotton fabric with orange flowers for her arms and legs. Her paws are made from ultra suede and she has black glass eyes with a hand-stitched nose and mouth.
She is fully cotter-pin jointed and stuffed with kapok, with tiny round steel pieces in her body to give her a lovely bit of weight.
Petal is available to adopt and, as always, you can reserve her for up to five weeks with a £15 deposit if you need a little time.
And if you spotted Dash the Dachshund in my recent photos, he is also still looking for a home.
If you enjoy hearing about my newest bears and what’s happening in the Little Scruffs workshop, you can also subscribe to my newsletter from the home page of my website. I send updates when new bears are finished or available, and subscribers are the first to see new bears before they are adopted.
Thank you so much to everyone who follows my little bears and supports Little Scruffs. Your kindness and encouragement always mean such a lot.
You can also browse the currently available bears on my website if you’d like to see who is waiting for a home.
I’d love to hear from you too…
Do you have a favourite Little Scruff bear or character style? Let me know in the comments!

Hello from me, Jean and all the Little Scruffs!
It has been a few years since I did a Blog but as I have recently had a new Website I decided to include one on here. Today's Blog will be very short and sweet but next time I have promised to do a free competition for a chance to win a bear or animal off my site for all who subscribe to my Newsletter ( See Home page of my website for the form to subscribe). More details to follow.
Meanwhile I have just added Miss Peachy Barrington. She is one of the few bears I have dressed and is a different style to my normal bears- although there are many Little Scruffs styles! Let me see if I can add her on here, my technical skills are very basic!
Thanks for looking,
Big Hugs,
Jean
