WW1 Soldier Bear Replica Frederick Walter Cross

£74.00

During WW1 many Soldiers took with them a little bear given by their loved ones which had eyes highup on it's head so that he peeped out of their top pockets of their uniforms.

I started making my version of these bears many years ago and often name them after Soldiers that died during the war.

Frederick Walter Cross was a Soldier during WW1 with the Worcester Regiment and sadly was killed in action aged 20.

I have named this bear after him.

Frederick Walter Cross is made from purple mohair that I have plucked, shaded and waxed. He has odd glass eyes, one larger brown one and a smaller clear glass one,  and a stitched, waxed nose.

He is fully jointed and stuffed with Kapok,a natural product from the Kapok tree, used in many early bears.

He has tiny steel discs in his body for a nice weight and comes wearing a red, white and blue ribbon with a rusty old safety pin and a "hope" charm attached.

You can reserve  any of the Scruffs with a £15 non refundable deposit for up to 5 weeks.
